The first Colombian to win the Tour de France returns to its start line as a genuine GC card again, seven years after his 2019 triumph and four years after the horrific training crash that nearly ended his career. Bernal rode himself back to a Giro top ten in May while selflessly pacing Thymen Arensman up the final climbs, and arrives in Barcelona wearing the Colombian tricolour he retained in February. Netcompany INEOS say he has the freedom to attack — and the mountains of this Tour suit the old Egan.
